MISSION

Structural Integration is a method and a philosophy of personal growth and integrity.

The vertical line is our fundamental concept. The physical and psychological embodiment of the vertical line is a way for BEING in the physical world. It forms a basis for personal growth and integrity.

The teaching of Structural Integration is transmitted through a form called the "Recipe." The "Recipe" is the tradition, the foundation, the essence of Dr. Ida Rolf's teachings.

AN INTERVIEW WITH DAVID DAVIS

1. How did you become involved with the Guild?

I became involved with the Guild before there was a Guild or at least this iteration of GSI as Emmett and Peter were my teachers back in the 70's.

2. Tell me about the evolution of your practice.
My practice has evolved since day one.  The learning curve in this work is limitless and never-ending which is what I love about it.

3. How has learning the Rolf Method changed your own life?
Transformation is a better word for what this work does to and for one, ah never to be the same growing like a weed.

4. What was your most profound moment with a client?
Working with a toddler in the upper Amazon basin with the Kampa people.  He had fallen off the table and fractured his right arm and right leg.  He couldn't stand or feed himself and we worked on the 'kitchen table' in an open air palapa in torrential rain; got him to
stand and regain full use of his right arm.  Woohoo!  Did another session on an elder and suggested he lay there for 5 minutes, went for a 40 minute walk and when I got back he was still laying there; he had no concept of time as we know it.

5. What is the one word you would use to describe your experience with the 10 series?
Magic!

6. Any closing remarks?
"No one gets rich doing this work, but it's a rich life"  Dr. Ida P. Rolf

David Davis was born in Denver, Colorado in 1947. He was introduced to Structural Integration in 1964 by a series of articles about Dr. Ida P. Rolf and her Work. His initial Ten-Series in 1973 was profoundly transformational and inspired him to become a practitioner. David graduated from Adams State College in 1975 with a BA, a prerequisite for the Rolf Institute's application process.

David completed the Basic Training in 1976-77, studying with Emmett Hutchins, Michael Salveson, and Neal Powers. He met Dr. Rolf at her eightieth birthday gala, and was encouraged by her to carry on the Work. David studied with Judith Aston for two years, completing a series of six-day intensives. He received his Advanced Training in 1985 with Emmett, who encouraged him to teach.

David was a founding member of the Guild for Structural Integration in 1989, and taught Anatomy and Basic and Advanced Trainings with Emmett, Peter Melchior, Stacey Mills, Neal Powers, and Nilce Silveira.
